A Man's Guide to Shedding Expectations
Shed expectations, improve your relationships, & raise EQ
Resources
These are some tools that will help you as you navigate this course.
Often times for men it is hard to identify what they are feeling but they can identify what they are feeling in their body. This graphic shows a heat map of how different emotions manifest in the body. If you are struggling to identify how you feel use this to check in with your body.
As you practice identifying your emotions, this emotion wheel can help you find the right word for what you’re feeling.
Expectations
To Be Strong
How to validate:
Step 1: Tell the person that what they are feeling makes sense
Step 2: Tell them why it makes sense.
Action Item: As you go about your day to day and run into tough situations actively practice validating yourself.
IMPORTANT NOTE: All the worksheets are hosted through google sheets which means I will be able to see your responses. If you do not want to share your responses I would recommend writing them down in separately in a journal.
Validation Trick
Action Item: Take some time later this week to check back in with that younger version of yourself and see how they are doing.
To Procreate
Action Item: Reach out to a friend and either let them know that you appreciate them or talk to them about something that has been bothering you.
Warning: Your friends may not be used to this and so they may respond in a way that doesn't feel the best. You can express that to them as well. Example: "Hey actually when you say 'that sucks bro' I'm not sure how to continue with the conversation."
